Yesterdays Colours
As the title suggests colours were very important in this piece so I used an Avid Nitris DS and Magic Bullit Looks bring out the colours from the Kodak 50D super 16 stock.
Yesterday’s Colours is a five-minute experimental documentary that captures a sense of time, which most of us have been thrilled by at one point in our lives… that of falling in love for the first time.
A visual montage of love and heartbreak's first feelings, are brought to screen through the eyes of teenage girls, who are currently or have recently fallen in or out of love.
Using a visual and expressive collage of different art forms The documentary aims to portray the feelings and emotions through the girls experiences. Techniques from documentary, fantasy, and contemporary dance are used to capture the essence of this one-off time in our lives.
Combining fantasy with reality, the documentary captures a sense of time and evokes feelings and memories we might have forgotten.

Hidden From the Night
Hidden from the Night is an experimental documentary the I directed in the summer of 2008.
It was shortlisted for the 2008 Channel 4 'My Home Town' competition.
Mixing Super 8 and DV footage to create a colourful portrait of Brighton through the eyes of the writer, Jasmine, who wonders how her home town sees her, and reminisces on some of her most vivid memories from growing up in such a unique place. Using herself, her siblings and characters from around Brighton she investigates the notion of self and public perception.
The film explores the convenient definitions that people place on us when they take a cursory glance in our direction, and how those perceptions are influenced by the individual city that you find yourself in. The film also looks at Jasmine’s opinions about the changing nature of Brighton and how it has influenced who she is today.

It was cut on Final Cut Pro HD with effects work and colour correction done in After Effects.

In this instance going from a warm, calming, tranquil setting in one context and a harsh, baron, threatening landscape in another.

Anna and the Blind Tobit
This short film, Directed by Philip Fountain, was inspired by the eponymous Rembrandt painting which hangs in the National Gallery.
The story of Anna, her husband Tobit and their son Tobias is told in the apocryphal Book of Tobit. God tested them by reducing them to poverty and causing Tobit's blindness. In the 17th century they were considered to be examples of piety in adversity.
This story expands upon the themes in the canvas, bringing them to life and creating a tale to surround the moment of time that the painting captures.
